Cefosix CV Dry Syrup is an advanced, dual-action antibiotic primarily prescribed for children to fight moderate to severe bacterial infections. It is highly effective against middle ear infections, throat or tonsil infections, severe sinus blockages, respiratory tract infections (like bronchitis or pneumonia), and complicated urinary tract infections.
Cefpodoxime is a powerful antibiotic, but some tough bacteria produce enzymes called beta-lactamases that can destroy it. The Clavulanic Acid (CV) component safely deactivates these enzymes, acting as a shield so that Cefpodoxime can successfully kill the bacteria without being broken down.
To reconstitute it, first shake the dry bottle well to loosen the powder. Pour the provided sterile water into the bottle up to the marked ring line. Shake the suspension vigorously until all powder is fully dissolved. If the volume settles below the mark, top it up to the line with a bit more sterile water and shake again.
Once mixed with water, the antibiotic becomes highly temperature-sensitive. You must store the prepared bottle inside the refrigerator (ideally between 2°C to 8°C) and never freeze it. Always shake the bottle thoroughly before measuring out a dose, and safely discard any remaining liquid after 7 to 10 days.
